Impact Grant Beneficiaries

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona, Inc., $856,697
Angel Charity for Children has committed $856,697 to fund the renovation of a newly purchased building into a Mentoring Activity Center, a dynamic hub of connection, learning, and growth for children in our community. This transformative Center will open doors to life-changing opportunities for children facing adversity, many of whom have been waiting for a mentor for months, if not years.
The Mentoring Activity Center will offer a safe, supportive environment where youth and their mentors, affectionately known as “Bigs” and “Littles”, can engage in meaningful, relationship-building activities. From STEM workshops and cooking classes to gardening, arts and crafts, and tutoring, the Center will provide a wide range of enriching experiences designed to foster confidence, resilience, and positive development. More than just a building, the Center is a community commitment to ensuring children have access to critical resources and stable, supportive relationships.
Since 1963, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Arizona has taken a holistic approach to youth well-being, creating and supporting long-term, intentional mentoring relationships that inspire and empower young people. By matching children with caring adult role models during pivotal developmental years, and providing professional support to sustain these connections, Big Brothers Big Sisters helps youth achieve higher academic success, avoid high-risk behaviors, and improve their mental health. These life-changing relationships extend beyond individuals, creating lasting, positive impacts on families, schools, and the broader community.
The new Mentoring Activity Center will significantly expand the organization’s ability to support existing matches and reach hundreds more children still waiting for a mentor, transforming futures and strengthening the fabric of our community.

San Miguel High School, $568,000
Angel Charity for Children has committed to fund $568,000 to purchase four 12-passenger vans and two 18-passenger minibuses that are essential to San Miguel High School (SMHS)’s Corporate Work Study (CWS) Program, the corporate work experience for their students. The vehicles are used to transport students to and from their respective workplaces all over Tucson and Pima County every day of the week. The current fleet of vehicles is aging, frequently in need of repairs, and increasingly unreliable. The replacement of these six vehicles, funded by Angel Charity, will ensure 80-100 SMHS students have dependable transportation each day in order to fulfill their commitment to their employers. This request is imperative for the integrity of the CWS program to provide adequate and safe transportation for the students.
SMHS, a Lasallian, Cristo Rey Network school, opened in 2004 to create a unique learning community where students of limited resources have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. SMHS empowers youth from underserved families through the integration of Christian values, rigorous academics and practical work experience, educating the whole student for college, career, and a fulfilling life. At SMHS, students take a full college preparatory course load while simultaneously holding internships, working in corporations and earning nearly 40% of their school tuition. The CWS Program provides students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn business skill sets and lifetime work lessons for their professional development with bright futures.

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF), $75,000
Angel Charity is granting $75,000 to increase access to life-enriching experiences for children and youth in foster care across Pima County. The AFFCF’s Childhood Activities program fills critical funding gaps in the state foster care benefits, often leaving little for extracurricular activities. The funding from Angel Charity will ensure more youth in foster care have access to the same opportunities as their peers. Funding will help cover the costs to participate in sports and social activities, camps, field trips, tutoring, supplemental clothing, school supplies, and more. By removing financial barriers, AFFCF empowers kids to build confidence, explore talents, and simply enjoy childhood.

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (Desert Museum), $72,000
Angel Charity is granting $72,000 to provide discounted field trips to the Desert Museum for youth from low-income and Title I schools. Aligned with STEM and State Standards, the Desert Museum Education Program would support 8,000 students. The program includes a tailored live-animal presentation, a high-quality 28-page Activity Booklet for each student, and a free exploration of the Desert Museum’s exhibits and docent-led stations. During the field trip, groups will dive deeper into science through hands-on experiences, create lasting memories as they reinforce concepts from class, and uncover new knowledge.

HopeKids, $15,000
Angel Charity is granting $15,000 to provide 18 events for HopeKids families in Tucson. HopeKids provides ongoing events, activities, and a powerful, unique support community for children with cancer or other life-threatening medical conditions and their siblings. Literacy Connects, $74,957
Angel Charity is granting $74,957 to purchase The Magic Box Truck Bookmobile (a 14-foot box truck) to support the Literacy Connects children’s programs. For the “Reading Seed” program, The Magic Box Truck Bookmobile will distribute 25,000+ free books annually to children in Title I schools and transport equipment to build mini school libraries. The truck will also provide the mobile productions to schools and community events to support the “Stories that Soar!” program that inspires elementary school children to write by bringing their words and ideas to life through original theatrical performances.

Spreading Threads Clothing Bank, $70,884
Angel Charity is granting $70,884 to Spreading Threads Clothing Bank, a foster-family founded clothing bank for children in foster and kinship care.
