TMM Family Services, Inc.
"Angel Village and Receiving
Center"
$671,900
|
|
|
Since 1974, TMM has served the Tucson area and its
children and families. Over 440 children who have suffered
from abuse and neglect have lived in safe Children's Village group homes
on the TMM campus since 1995. 103 of these children have been part
of sibling groups, a unique and cutting edge philosophy and practice at
TMM. These kids reside in small sized group homes, in some cases
for years. This greatly reduces the trauma associated with
displacement and abandonment issues. |
|
In 2007, TMM received
$671,900 from Angel Charity to demolish existing, unsafe, small
and older facilities and replace them with four new group homes that
will provide safer, larger, modern and more functional facilities.
In addition, TMM will renovate and furnish an existing building to
create a Receiving, Assessment and Visitation Center for children who
are served by the child welfare system. This renovation and
construction will provide nine additional potential beds to serve as
temporary shelter to children waiting to go home or be adopted.
The Receiving Center will have the potential to serve as many as 100
unduplicated children in a year.

Make-A-Wish Foundation
of Arizona
Wish Granting Program for Pima County
$305,000
|
|
|
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of
children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human
experience with hope, strength and joy. In 2006, Make-A-Wish
Foundation research projected that 67 children in Pima County under the
age of 17 will have life threatening illnesses. The wishes granted
to these children allow the experience of joy for both the children and
the family. Often, this experience turns these children's lives
around and gives them the strength and desire to fight their illness and
battle for life. It is estimated that 75% of the Make-A-Wish kids
live to adulthood. |
|
In 2007, Angel Charity raised $305,000 to fund approximately 45 wishes for Pima County's kids
beginning in April of 2008. Perhaps more importantly, it
would position the agency to be able to reach the estimated 67 eligible
children in Pima County by 2010. 100% of funds donated by Angel
Charity would go toward program costs only and not towards fundraising
or administrative costs. Angel Charity has partnered with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation to reach more children, create joy in their lives
and, very possibly, save more lives in Pima County!
